Profile of the Association
The Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MVPMAP) was organized in October 1996 and was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 06 November 1996, as a non-stock, non-profit organization. The manufacturers joined together for a mutually beneficial purpose in the advent of liberalization, deregulation and privatization, the Philippines' accession to GATT-WTO and the birth of other regional cooperation, such as, ASEAN-CEPT, AICO under AFTA, and the APEC. MVPMAP spearheaded the industry to prepare itself for the onslaught of products from other countries by being more productive, cost-competitive and quality-conscious.
The member companies realized the need for an organization that would actively promote the interest of the industry, strengthen the supporting industries that would complement automobile manufacturing in the Philippines, and encourage the development of viable automotive parts and components to sustain manufacturing activities in the country.
At present, MVPMAP is composed of one hundred and one (101) automotive parts and components manufacturing companies.
